What are the “text” and “document” tabs?

Document is to translate full documents (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Pdf, Mails, Texts, Subtitles, etc.). Text is to translate short text sentences (like google translate – but secure)

How does the dailyfree work in the “text” translation tab?

Depending on the licensing agreement, the users have an amount of characters (usually 2000 per day) that they can translate for free. After that the user can continue using the text tool using a valid Project Code.

What is the Project Code for?

Project Code is used to assign the translation usage to a project. It is typically used by the billing teams to associate the translation cost to a project.

Can this service be integrated with a document repository?

Yes, there is an API, please contact your IT team.

Why do some users have access to this service and others don’t?

It depends on your project management decision. It is configurable. Please contact your manager or IT team.

Why is this server safer than other solutions

Because no one can know what is being translated not even if NDAs are broken.

Why can’t I use online translation tools to help with translations

Using online translation tools poses serious risks of information leaks with serious consequences for the companies and their clients as most of them do not assure information and user privacy

How long does it take to translate a document

It depends on the document size. Typically 1 second for each 5 pages

Why does pdf translation lose some formatting?

Because pdf is converted to docx to allow the user to edit it and this process causes loss of quality. You should always use the original document docx, pptx, xlsx. If none is available then use the pdf version.

Can I estimate the number of words before doing a translation?

Just insert countwords in the Project Code field to get the word count without translation. Normally SafeTranslator word count is less than the count you see in Word because we don’t count 1 letter words, numbers, symbols. For example in Excel we don't count numbers, formulas, copied values or references.

Can I recover a translated document?

No, for security reasons it is impossible. This service does not store any documents.

Can I translate multiple documents in one request?

Yes, if that option is licensed you can select multiple files to translate and download the translated zip file.

Can I translate scanned documents (i.e. pdf documents that are images, photos of documents, jpeg, etc.)

Yes, all you need is the OCR module installed. If your scanned documents are not translated, please contact your manager or IT team

Why did my pdf come untranslated?

That happens when the pdf is an image and not editable text and you do not have the OCR module installed. Please contact your manager or IT team

Is there an add-in for word and powerpoint?

Yes, just ask for it to your IT department. It works on Windows, Mac, Tablets and Online office versions

Can I translate only a few slides of a presentation?

Yes, if you select a powerpoint file you can specify “slides:2,3,8” inside the options textbox to translate only slides 2, 3 and 8

Can I only flip slides from/to right-to-left/left-to-right?

Yes, when you choose a translation from/to a distinct orientation just write notranslation in the options box.

Why didn’t the document download as it says in the translation result message?

Most probably due to network problems or a browser limitation or disabled script. Click the provided link to download. Preferred browsers are Chrome, Edge/Explorer or Safari. If the problem persists contact your IT team.

I have a HUGE file to translate can this service handle it?

SafeTranslator supports very huge files. If you are having problems, try to break the document into “normal sized” files (i.e. 100 pages/150 slides ). If not possible, please contact your IT team
